Ascension Monuments Media previously presented the “newest signing (and first ever signing of an artist based off of a demo submission!), Tucson, Arizona's dreary and devastating masters of melodic & melancholic black metal - SUICIDE FOREST! Suicide Forest channel the misery found in bands such as ABYSSIC HATE, STRID, and LEVIATHAN while also channeling a direct 90's Norse black metal influence clearly hailing the earliest (and most respectable) works of bands like DIMMU BORGIR, early EMPEROR, and LIMBONIC ART. Clearly, sighting the last three bands should tell the listener one thing - keyboards are very present (and welcomed!) throughout the sorrowful, blackened dirges. Baroque-inspired piano and string harmonies help carry the cold, dissonant riffing and ice cold vocals. Combine all these elements with excellent song-writing skills, a solid live band (Suicide Forest play out regularly, have performed at a number of underground metal festivals in the western part of the United States since 2015) and an over all mystique and aura to the bands imagery and lyrics, and the end result is something truly unique, fresh and totally "it's own". And for these reasons, Ascension Monuments Media is making Suicide Forest our developmental artist focus #1 for the label. The "Descend Into Despair" compilation will see a brand new (and redesigned w/bonus material!) cassette edition under the AMM banner, along with a limited edition digipak CD and most importantly, a super limited edition (300 hand-numbered units) LP version featuring all new art, which will be hand-screen printed onto black vinyl jackets and include a number of additional items including (but not limited to) a patch, sticker, poster, digital download card, tshirt, etc. Look for these new AMM-released cassette and CD editions in early May, 2018 along with the LP following just in time for the bands soon-to-be-announced first U.S. headlining tour, which will be just over two weeks and begin in southern California with a kick-off, album-release show for the bands debut full-length album, "Suicide Forest" (self-titled), the weekend of Friday, July 13th, 2018 (release date for the new album - tour dates + AMM sponsored & hosted release show in Orange County will all be announced in the coming weeks after all loose ends are tied up) In the meantime, give "Descend Into Despair" a listen here, or grab one of the original cassettes while they're still available from either us here at AMM, the band themselves here on Bandcamp, or the label responsible for the original cassette, Folkvangr Records (support!)
