Energetic alternative rock on a foundation of punk, hard rock and metal with multi-genre references. The alternative rock band, Nihil Admirari releases their first EP, "New EP" following the soft release of their first single "Not Enough" in November 2016. Just a trio of studied and practiced musicians from three parts of the world (US, Japan and The Bahamas), Nihil Admirari found each other in NYC after a long-time search for like-minded artists. That is, they wanted people with big dreams, the work ethic to back it, the strength to stomach the coming hardships, the stubbornness to always push for creativity and a quirky personality to survive it all together. Because, like their Latin namesake - Nihil Admirari, one should never expect predictability but always believe in the many perspectives and emotional stimuli of life and the music they make. "New EP" was named so like an announcement of strangers. They consider themselves unknown but still an entity with something to say. As if to answer the call for anything modern and a bit different, the group drops this very literal opening statement to the highly metaphorical and impressionistic content. Thus, the contrast of graphic artist Naoya Esa's surrealistic dépaysement superimposed on simple white, gives way to the four tracks which all somehow reference a type of homesickness or loneliness that isn't always so visible. Within one track, the listener can experience the excitement of dancing at a party, thrashing about their frustration or just saying "I am here" all at once. It's all their choice. The band's opus is objectivity. They bring light to multiple sides of something otherwise seen as simple, and each element of a song has an open interpretation for a personal response. Gone is both about leaving something or someone and not wanting to leave. Sadie talks about the pain and pleasure of obsession and all its dark veil. Mr. Wizard asks you what gets you in the party mood and why. And Follow Me walks you beside someone discovering something that was always there. The safety of home, the restlessness of home, the comfort of home and the little things. This EP was written and produced by the trio working together at all fronts; three voices, three instruments, many thoughts. Expect theatrical vocals and song structure, bodied guitar and versatile drums and percussion in a generally upbeat and exciting mix.Expand
