"It's chilling, powerful, and threatening, and the odd moments of quietude will only make you wonder what is soon to come."
-Dante Duvall, Doom Metal, 8 out of 10
After offering the Scarlet Lakes EP, Pacific Northwestern duo Maestus, comprised of Stephen Parker (Arkhum) and Jarrod Hyam (Sophos), began work on their debut album. Kenneth Parker (Grst) and Cordell Cline (Dimensionless) were enlisted to fulfill rhythm duties, while live guitars are handled by Nathanael Kelley (Arkhum).
The 74 minute album concludes with a four part epic, 'Opaque Shadows in Framed Stillness,' the duration of which makes up nearly half the record's length. Voir dire was engineered and mixed during the summer months of 2014 at Stephen Parker's studio The Wilderness and mastered by Jason Walton at Earth In Sound in October 2014, Voir dire integrates black metal, doom and ambient, resulting in a caustic yet lush confessional.
