When I was younger my friends had a thing for Captain Morgans Spiced Rum. I don't want to exagerate their enthusiasm, but I remember some sort of hype within the group for that particular booze. On at least a few occasions I remember someone coming back accross the border with a bottle or two, duty free. There might have even been requests for it. Maybe I am even down-playing just how popular it was. Honestly I don't remember exactly. Those days all seem to blend into one long weekend now in my mind. Even duty free I think it was like 30 bucks, which to me is and was a lot of money for a bottle of anything. But you like what you like I guess and sometimes it is nice to treat yourself to rum.
I moved countries almost 7 years ago and I just walked past a liquor shop here and saw a bottle of Captain Morgans Spiced Rum on sale for 13 bucks. I thought of my friends back then, I thought about the good times and I thought about the insane mark ups on liqour prices when you live on an island.
