La enfermedad, en todas sus formas, nos conduce a ser conscientes de la fragilidad de la condición humana y de lo que conforma la realidad diaria. Lejos de alentar una reflexión sobre nuestra vida, la sociedad actual nos empuja a una huida hacia adelante para ignorar la realidad de la muerte y la introspección reflexiva que ella conlleva, dirigiendo la mirada hacia una felicidad material basada en agotar nuestras posibilidades económicas y sentimentales.
‘Vita Brevis’, nuevo álbum de Doce Fuegos, es un ensayo sonoro en torno a la vida, la muerte y el amor; una invitación a pensar en lo que tenemos y dejamos, en aquello que deseamos y anhelamos, en nuestros valores y decisiones. El disco, a través de diversas subversiones de la simbología de la vanitas y el memento mori, propone un viaje introspectivo reflejado en una rica e inspirada diversidad tímbrica y musical, generada a partir de diferentes improvisaciones en distintos lugares y momentos dentro del mismo edificio, en Sevilla, durante la cuarentena entre marzo y junio de 2020.

Every way of disease makes us aware of the fragility of both human beings and our daily existence. Instead of encouraging a reflection on our life, present society pushes us forward in order to escape and ignore the reality of death and, hence, the media promises a material happiness based on using up our economic resources and emotions.
Doce Fuegos new album, ‘Vita Brevis’, is a sound essay about life, death and love. It is an invitation to think about what we have and what we leave, our wishes and desires, our principles and decisions. Throughout subversions of symbols from vanitas and memento mori’s iconography, this album proposes an introspective trip immersed in a rich and inspiring variety of music and timbres. All their tracks are the sum of improvisations recorded in different places and moments in the same building in Sevilla, during the quarantine between March and June of 2020.
