Hello!
It says 6 songs but really it is 4 songs being hugged by the intro and D-W-L-T-F (Dead Weight Learns To Fly - which is actually a sort of chopped up re-make of a melody I wrote on the accordion about 7 years ago while I was living in the Blue Mountains near Sydney. I recorded that melody years later here in Amsterdam on this old tape recorder gifted to me by a friend. That tape recorder made everything which it captured sound like it was performed underwater or something. My friend had aquired this recorder while living in an old primary school and I recorded a demo on it when Elise and I used to live in a place where I built a small studio in the attic).
The other 4 songs were written over the last year. I actually intended 'So Long', 'Debris' and 'Fatigued' for a band that I was trying to form last year but didn't work out for many different reasons but probably mostly because I am impatient. My impatience is also why this release only has 4 full songs on it. I initially wanted it to be more like 8 or something but it takes me so long to put the whole thing together and sometimes I think I am adding extra jobs just to put off actually having to release something. So I just want to put something out. Anyway, I am still sitting on those other unfinished songs so I guess that - as long as I don't have a total change of heart (which I habitually do) - then I will put those songs up as a different release at a later date.
I also wanted to get something out because I have been sitting on some of these songs for about 12 months and I am done incubating them, probably well over-done. The stories and ideas that are in these songs are a collection of thoughts and feelings from this last year which has been a relatively strange one. I appreciate your time to listen to them, I hope they connect somehow, I hope you enjoy them.
