Album purchase includes PDF of AGAINST THE CULT OF THE HIPPIE COMMUNE - A 0-level funnel for Dungeon Crawl Classics. The seed of the idea for this project came to me late in 2023. I was thinking of all the classic fantasy stories where a typical villager goes up against some over powered wizard. Could a story like this be moved to the 1960's? Instead of a wizard we could have a charismatic hippie. Instead of innkeepers and blacksmiths the party could be made up of regular working class folks. What if it all took place on the night of a lunar eclipse? And what if there was a psych rock band jamming? What songs would they play? And so on and so on. I kept thinking about the idea, adding bits of it in my mind. Then in early 2024 I drove up to San Francisco for a Goodman Games screening of Dragonslayer. On the drive back I gave Rev. Dak Ultimak a ride and had the chance to pitch him the idea. He was so encouraging that I decided to move forward with it. Initially I wasn't sure if I wanted to make physical copies of the game/soundtrack but I ordered myself a zine and really liked how it turned out. I figured maybe a couple folks out there would want one. I want to thank the 280 people who backed this Kickstarter. This intersection of music and TTRPGs is a weird little niche. Sometimes I have trouble explaining it myself. I am beyond grateful to those of you who support these odd little excursions. I also want to thanks Eric M. Smith who did such a wonderful job on the art, Linus Dotson who did excellent work making it all sound like it was happening in the living room of the Cobb Estate, and my son Jules Nùñez, the other vocalist in Stryp Tygur.
