Saint-Petersburg duo Delicate Features (aka Radmila Nikogosian and Pavel Diakov-Astvatsaturian) have been active for two years, scotch-taping microphones to percussive objects and flutes amidst glowing swells of depressive electronics. The Passenger fuses sensual synth-jazz and windswept new age into a melancholic landscape of frozen rivers and endless steppes.
The group's original vision apparently skewed more danceward, but gradually their northern roots cast more sway. The album unfolds a story of devotion and dissolve, from poetic faith (“Birds Near River”) and dawn revelation (“Opal”) to body rapture (“Kiss By The Sea”) and escape (“Transparent Shadows”). Music of twilight and tactility, vibrating through stained glass.
