L'afrofunk de SUPERGOMBO descend probablement du Tout Puissant Orchestre Poly-Rythmo et des Headhunters. Nourri de Mbalax sénégalais, de soukous congolais, de funk US et de jazz mondial, le son qui se joue ici est d'ailleurs. SUPERGOMBO propose dans cet album un rythme frénétique et incontrôlé. Entre grooves embrasés et couleurs irisées, ce groupe de 7 musiciens nous offre des rythmes bikutsi (Faraphonium) aux gammes mandingues (Nâ Kuima).
SUPERGOMBO is an exciting new offshoot of the cultural blend made in France. Their Afrofunk sound is probably coming from the Tout Puissant Orchestre Poly-Rythmo and the Headhunters, blended with influences such as Senegalese Mbalax, Congolese Soukous, Funk and Jazz. SUPERGOMBO’s seven musicians borrow other influences from Bamako to Ouagadougou. With Bikutsi (Faraphonium) rhythms on top of Mandingo (Nâ Kuima) scales, somewhere between scorching grooves and rainbow colors.
