Acrania’s second studio album, released in October 2012, having as executive producer the support of the National Council for Culture and Arts (CONACULTA), takes us through a musical evolution from their debut album, this Mexican band has established a new and unique sound, combining the power of Death Metal with the folklore of Latin music, a unique combination that could only be expected to come from a place like Mexico City, where contradictions of a violent life collide with a musical heritage full of rhythm and "swing".
"An Uncertain Collision", explores a new range of Latin rhythms and instruments that had not been used in previous albums, as main surprise, the band welcomes a new member: Ignacio Gómez Ceja, percussionist of great experience, perfectly complementing the band, giving even more of those “Latin swing” touches that already define Acrania’s innovative style.
New rhythms like merengue, Puerto Rican bomba, cha cha cha, samba and plena, are addressed in this new album, fused with the power of Death Metal and technical riffs, powerful drumming with unusual rythms within the genre, growls and lyrics that address all kinds of human and spiritual passions.
Tenor saxophone, trumpet, trombone and transverse flute make their interventions as soloists, as well as awesome brass and wind arrangements, this, coupled with the impressive artwork of Eliran Kantor, result in Acrania’s best album so far.
