Like all audio signals, this music is a bunch of overlapping sine waves of different wavelengths and phases. Unlike most other music, the sine waves in tracks 2–10 are pseudo-randomly generated. The program that generated those tracks uses a pseudo-random number generator to choose the number of simultaneous "notes," and the duration, pitch, volume, and left–right position of each note. To make different sounds with the same code, there are a few configurable options. Notes can be shorter or longer (compare tracks 3, 7, and 8); harmonics can be included or not (compare 3 and 4); each note can represent a single fundamental frequency, or a spread of interfering fundamental frequencies (compare 3 and 9); and the number of simultaneous notes can be adjusted (compare 2, 3, and 6).
