Canadian grunge punkers 027 are known for their electrifying performances and gritty, fuzzed-out sound. With a blend of heavy riffs, powerful vocals, and dynamic rhythms, they captivate their audiences with high-energy live shows that have garnered them a fiercely loyal following. The band is known not just for their raw, authentic songwriting approach, but also for recording their own (and others) music, putting on shows for themselves (and others), and being true cornerstones in the scene they came up in.
Formed in November of 2022 from the ashes of various local projects, 027 wears its grunge influences well, even doing live covers of stoner greats like Kyuss and Converge with mind-melting fury. However, it is their originals that one really needs to check out. Hot on the heels of their instrumental atmospheric demo album ‘Commencement’, their 2023 EP, ‘Light of the Black Sun’ showed where the future of 027 was to head. The EP featuring 3 songs, each recorded live and in one take at the band’s home studio, was produced and mixed by 027 themselves.
Now, in a successful attempt to evolve their chosen sound, 027 returns with even more edge. A little quicker than it is dirty, a little more punk than it is grunge, their new EP ‘You’re Not Supposed to Know’ features three new songs plus fan favorite “Gun” taken from ‘Light of the Black Sun’ and recorded in front of a live audience at the Orangeville Grand Slam.
With purposeful evolution, 027’s crushing fuzz rock sound is soon to be a true rock force to reckon with.
