"Some people will think this is tongue in cheek. It isn't. Way, way back in prehistory there was an RnB sub-genre so underground that you could only hear it after midnight on pirate FM radio stations like Solar, Kiss (before the money men got to it), Invicta etc. Eventually it became mainstream, and rightfully so. For two years in 1982-83 I worked 10 hour nights in a deserted BT network centre in Bridgewater Square behind the Barbican. I loved this sound and it got me through the night. At the time I didn't personally know anybody else who liked it. Imagine liking early grime in about 2004 and you get the idea...most people would have thought you bonkers. Anyway Robert Halcrow, Helene Bradley and myself share this love and we have this little project on the go, recorded on (literally) old school keyboards and knackered gear. It's Jam & Lewis in a bungalow in Kent, and it's called FXU2." Jack Hayter (& Robert Halcrow)
