Inner Tensions aches with the tender desperation for belonging and meaning in an overwhelming world. Crafted from two years of basement jams, shows at small DC venues, and Sunday lunchtime conversations, the album represents our hopes, our fears, and our many evolving selves.

If I had to highlight a single quality of Parasocial on Inner Tensions, it would be that they are easy to root for. Not in the sense of cheering on a highwire act, but more in the satisfaction and simple pleasure of a well-delivered record. Victor, Jo, and Peter do dream big in their songwriting (I don't often hear thrash-adjacent metal riffs give way to gentle bridges and three-part harmony), but these juxtapositions have a natural flow. The craft is in the pop structure that ties the different pieces together so well.
Elementally, the album is well constructed: the home recording is cozy and at times diaristic; the lyrics are resonant and direct in their emotional focus; the performances are sharp while also retaining a human touch; and (most importantly, in my opinion) the riffs rock.
All this to say, no matter your listening background, casual skimmer or crate digger, I think the world Parasocial have made on Inner Tensions is one worth exploring and worth rooting for.
